Today, fax paper is usually the same as printer paper, either for a laser printer paper (most of the time) or inkjet printer paper (rarely). Older fax machines used a roll of thermal paper (very much like todays receipt printers). Todays fax machines rarely use fax rolls.
A fax (short for facsimile and sometimes called telecopying) is the telephonic transmission of scanned-in printed material (text or images), usually to a telephone number associated with a printer or other output device.
In this sense, a facsimile might be a handwritten or hand-drawn copy, or even a copy of a painting or statue. (Today, we also use the phrase a reasonable facsimile for a copy that is fairly close but not exact.)
Facsimile comes from two Latin roots: facere, meaning to make, and simile, meaning like. Fax machines are so called because they copy and transmit facsimiles of documents, or faxes for short, over phone lines.
The least expensive fax machines still use rolls of thermal fax paper to print documents.
What information is needed to send a fax? You only need a couple of things to send a fax: your fax documents and the recipients fax number. You can also use a fax cover sheet if youd like to add details such as who the fax is for and what its about.
Fax machine is used in communication; to make sending and receiving documents easy. Fax machines are used in Sales Tactics; to increase prospects and make more sales using fax broadcasting. Fax machine is also used as a photocopier. Some Fax Machines have an option of printing documents.
a method or device for transmitting documents, drawings, photographs, or the like, by means of radio or telephone for exact reproduction elsewhere.
ing to the ITU T. 30 standard, the Fax page width is 215 mm or 1728 pixels, which is slightly different from the US Letter or A4 paper size. There are additional fax paper sizes, for example, 255 mm and 303 mm; however, they are not in use or there are very limited devices supporting them.
A facsimile (from Latin fac simile, to make alike) is a copy or reproduction of an old book, manuscript, map, art print, or other item of historical value that is as true to the original source as possible.
