so the focus of kinetics especially in regards to chemical engineering in particular is pretty much reactive design so todays goal is going to be look at some basic reactors that were gonna see and figure out what the design equations for those reactors are going to be first reactor you probably heard of some of your core engineering classes is a simple batch reactor where you have a bunch of materials already in the reactor it spins around it reacts and at some later time theres usually a spout on the bottom here and you take out whatever you had inside your reactor vessel as we start looking at continuous processes and the advantages that come with those a lot of companies started using continuous stirred-tank reactors which means you have an inlet stream constantly feeding in materiality reactor and an outlet stream constantly take the material out and as with the batch reactor you generally have some sort of heat source if you need that as well as an impeller for mixing the las

If you need to use an equation, add or write it in Word. Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design Equation. To create your own, select Design Equation Ink Equation.
Usually an equation is followed by a comma after it is presented (especially when followed by descriptions of its individual members) or by a period if the sentence has ended. Some journals do not follow the equation with any punctuation marks, relying on the wording of the sentence alone to carry the meaning.
The equation numbers should be enclosed by parentheses and placed at the right-hand side of the page. If you are referring to an equation in the text, use eq. (3) (or other abbreviations). If it is the first word in a sentence, capitalize it, i.e., Eq.
The design equation for the PFR is developed from a substrate balance over a differential volume element dVL in the reactor at steady state where F refers to the volumetric flow rate and dS to the differential change in substrate concentration in dVL (Figure 6.2).
Use InDesigns Glyphs panel and choose Show: Math Symbols to see all your options in the font youre using. Some fonts include lots of math glyphs. For example, Neutraface gives you six versions of each of the basic math symbols.
If it is the first word in a sentence, capitalize it, i.e., Eq. (3). It is also pretty normal to refer to an equation in the text with only its number within parentheses, like (3). In this case, if it is the first word in the sentence, spell out Equation before the number, like Equation (3).
Choose File Open from the MathType menu bar. Select the equation you need to edit and click Open. Make the desired changes, then save the equation (File Save).
To type a new equation, press Alt + = on your keyboard. Alternatively, On the Insert tab, click on Symbols and then click on Equation.
How to Write an Equation Read the entire problem several times. Look for keywords like more, less, is, etc. Replace the keywords with their mathematical operations and shorten the words to variables. Solve the resulting equation. Answer the problem clearly in a complete sentence.
