The current design $100 note is the latest denomination of U.S. currency to be redesigned, and it was issued on October 8, 2013. The current design $100 note features additional security features including a 3-D Security Ribbon and color-shifting Bell in the Inkwell.
Under 18 U.S. 486, its a criminal offense to make or pass any metal coins intended for use as current money, whether in the resemblance of coins of the United States or of foreign countries, or of original design. An offense is punishable with up to 5 years in prison, a fine, or both.
