If you want to remove cells from the worksheet and shift the surrounding cells to fill the space, you can select the cells and delete them. On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click the arrow next to Delete, and then click Delete Cells.
To select all cells on a worksheet, use one of the following methods: Click the Select All button. Press CTRL+A. Note If the worksheet contains data, and the active cell is above or to the right of the data, pressing CTRL+A selects the current region. Pressing CTRL+A a second time selects the entire worksheet.
How to Delete Cells in Google Sheets Select the cell or cell range you want to delete. Click Edit on the menu bar. Select a delete option. Delete values: Deletes the values(s) from a cell or cell range. Delete row: Deletes the selected row(s). Delete column: Deletes the selected column(s).
Remove highlighting from part or all of a document Select the text that you want to remove highlighting from, or press Ctrl+A to select all of the text in the document. Go to Home and select the arrow next to Text Highlight Color. Select No Color.
You can both apply highlight and remove highlight using the Alt-Ctrl-H shortcut. Note that this shortcut only works with the currently selected default highlight color so you still have to first make sure the desired color has been selected, either via the Home tab or the Mini Toolbar.
Select the rows by clicking on the header of the first row to remove and dragging down to the last row you wish to remove, then, in the Ribbon, select Home Cells Delete Delete Sheet Rows.
Extend Selection Mode If you notice some weird selection behavior going on with your mouse in Excel, take a look at the Status Bar you might see something toward the left end that says Extend Selection. Even if you dont, turning the selection mode off is easy. Just press F8.
