A JPEG file also has a lot of metadata in each file containing auxiliary information about the image. On an average, this kind of metadata occupies 16% of size of the JPEG file.
Paid standard programs such as Adobe Lightroom (Mac and Windows), Apple Photos (Mac) and Aperture (Mac) can help you edit the meta information. The free software GIMP now also supports the modification of Exif information. You can access the image metadata simply by opening an image or photo from the Image tab.
Here's how: Go to File Explorer. Select one or more files in Windows Explorer. Right-click > select Properties from the contextual menu. Go to the Details tab > click Remove Properties and Personal Information to open the Remove Properties dialog.
With experience in the computer forensic field the short answer is Yes. As other people said it's called EXIF data. You can get information such as camera settings and lens used, time and date etc.
Screenshots provide a timestamp and even that can go through editing so it's one of the easiest ways you can use to remove metadata from a photograph. Remember metadata is data that can help us identify even more data.
How to edit and remove EXIF data Right-click an image file you have saved. Select “Properties.” Select the “Details” tab. Click “Remove Properties and personal information.” Select whether you want to create a back up with all possible metadata removed, or simply remove the data you specify without making a copy.
How to remove metadata from photos Navigate to the folder holding the images you want to edit. Select the file (or files) you wish to delete metadata from. Right-click and select Properties, then Details. Select Remove Properties and Personal Information. Click Create a copy with all possible properties removed.
Select the photos, then right-click and select “Properties.” Navigate to “Properties” to remove metadata from your photos. Once you're in the “Properties” window, click on the tab “Details.” Then click on “Remove Properties and Personal Information” at the bottom of the window.
How to access and view photo metadata Locate and right-click the intended digital image file. Select 'Properties' Click the 'Details' tab at the top of the popup window. Now simply scroll down through the resulting window until you find the metadata section you require.
How to remove your iPhone photos' location information In the Photos app, navigate to the photo you want to adjust. Now, either swipe up on the photo or tap the info (i) button to view the photo's information. Next, tap Adjust on the bottom right corner of the map. ... Finally, tap No Location.
