If someone shared a file or folder with you that you dont want to see anymore, you can remove it. Go to drive.google.com. On the left, click Shared with me. Right click the file you want to remove. Click Remove.
Deleting a shared folder removes it from your devices, but does not remove it from the owners or other participants devices. You can access the file or folder again by clicking the original link that the owner shared, unless the owner has stopped sharing the file or folder.
When you remove a shared file that doesnt belong to any folder, the file is removed from your Google Drive view. Since you are not the owner of the file, its not actually deleted for everyone. The owner and the users who have access to the shared file can still use it normally.

When you are sharing a file with someone on drive and you are not the owner of the file then you cant remove that file from your Shared with me folder. Its because you dont have the permission to do so.
