A comma-separated values (CSV) file is a delimited text file that uses a comma to separate values. Each line of the file is a data record. Each record consists of one or more fields, separated by commas. The use of the comma as a field separator is the source of the name for this file format.
When you save a workbook as a .csv file, the default list separator (delimiter) is a comma. You can change this to another separator character using Windows Region settings.
Opening the file Find your CSV file stored on your computer, and click Open. In the Text Import Wizard window, be sure Delimited is selected as your file type. In the File origin drop down, select 65001 : Unicode (UTF-8). Check the My Data has headers box. Click the Next button.
