hey there next tutorials here in this video were going to go over how to use the cut command to parse out very specific information from a csv file that i exported from stripe now the takeaway i cut here its not related to csvs or stripe specifically you can basically use it to filter out a subset of information that you want from a file that is semi-structured now it doesnt need to be a csv file like this or stripe specifically but uh the real world use case for me here was i was parsing out a ton of data from various csv files and i found myself using the cut tool a lot so i figured that would be a great time to make a video about that ive been using cot for a really long time but i dont think i made a dedicated video around it so here we are so if youre not using the csv file youll see once uh were done with this video how you can apply it back to your situation at hand so here we have a csv file from stripe now i trimmed out a lot of things here theres only three columns h

Remove all spaces between numbers Press Ctrl + Space to select all cells in a column. Press Ctrl + H to open the Find Replace dialog box. Press Space bar in the Find What field and make sure the Replace with field is empty. Click on the Replace all button, and then press Ok. Voila! All spaces are removed.
Using the From Text feature in Excel Select the CSV file that has the data clustered into one column. Select Delimited, then make sure the File Origin is Unicode UTF-8. Select Comma (this is Affinitys default list separator). The preview will show the columns being separated.
You can also remove spaces using the Find/Replace feature in Excel. Click CTRL+F to open the Find dialog box, then click the Replace tab. Enter one space in the Find what: field and leave the Replace with: field empty to remove all spaces.
If you export data to a CSV file using Tab, Space, or Semicolon as a delimiter and open the file in excel, all the data in a record may be combined into a single cell. You can split data in a record into each cell by specifying an appropriate delimiter when importing a CSV file in Excel.
How to split a CSV or Excel file Open a new file in Excel. Enable macros. Open the macro editor. Copy the text below starting at Sub and ending with End Sub Paste it into the macro editor. Return to Excel from the macro editor. Save the file as a file of type . xlsm.
Steps to automatically remove spaces in the CSV file: Open csv file in Microsoft Excel. Select the Tag column. Select Edit Replace then select the Options button. Select the Search drop down and select By Columns. In the Find what field input a space and leave the Replace with field blank. Select Replace All.
Depending on your Excels regional setting, your default delimiter/separator may either be using semicolons (;) or commas (,) to separate items in a CSV file.
