To remove manual formatting, select the text and click Format Default Formatting, or right-click and select Default Formatting.
Highlighting should have a shortcut by default, e.g. CTRL-H.
The HIGHLIGHTING ICON is available in the (Text) FORMATTING toolbar in the Writer Text Document application under the same OpenOffice 4.1.
To remove highlight from a number or from a bullet, select the paragraph mark and remove the highlight. You can also select the entire paragraph or the last part of the paragraph as long as you make sure the paragraph mark is included in the selection. Then the highlight will disappear from the number/bullet.
Right-click on the comment and select Delete Comment from the dropdown menu. This will remove the comment. Be sure to address the note prior to deleting it.
If no text is selected, click the Highlighting icon, select the text that you want to highlight, and then click the Highlighting icon again. To change the highlight color, click the arrow next to the Highlighting icon, and then click the color that you want.
