hi and welcome to another excel demo with rich kerr in this scenario i want to show you a couple of quick keyboard shortcuts for inserting the current date and the current time so for the current date you can use the control key and the key that has the colon and semicolon on it are most western keyboards thats just to the right of the letter l so control and the semicolon that gives me the date just that simple it actually inserts it not as a formula but as a date stamp many of you know that you can do the current date using the today function so of course thats an option as well but then tomorrow this will say 314 whereas this one will not because its just as though you type the data in manually now if you want to talk about time we can do the same kind of thing if i do the control key but now i do shift and that same key to the right of the l which has the colon and the semicolon then it does the current time and in a similar fashion to what we saw with the date function of cour
