The Preview app in Mac OS Mojave makes it easy to split and merge PDFs. In a sample PDF with four pages, you can split it into two separate documents by deleting pages. By grabbing and holding the Command key, you can select specific pages to delete. Alternatively, you can select the first two pages, Command click each, and hit Delete to keep the last two pages.
