View your files On your Android device, open Files by Google . Tap a category. Youll see files from that category in a list. To change how the files display, tap Grid view . To go back to a list, tap List view . Optional: To sort your files, on the top right, tap More . Select Sort by.
Find open a file Open Files . On the left, choose where your file is saved. For files youve just used, select Recent. For a list of recent files by type, use the button to select that file type. For Android app files, select My files Play files. Find your file and double-click it to open.
How to open from within Chrome Open the Chrome ribbon menu and select File, then choose Open File. Go to where your HTML file is located, highlight the document and select Open. Your file may open in a new tab.
If you see a message that says you cant open files that are not downloaded through Google Play, it means that you have downloaded a file that is incompatible with your Chromebook. For example, some Windows or Mac files, such as .exe or . dmg files, cannot be opened on a Chromebook.
To create a new file: From Google Drive, locate and select the New button, then choose the type of file you want to create. In our example, well select Google Docs to create a new document. Your new file will appear in a new tab on your browser. Locate and select Untitled document in the upper-left corner.
In the bottom corner of your Chromebooks screen, select the Launcher icon and then the Up arrow. Open Files. This icon might also be pinned to your dashboard menu at the bottom of your screen.
Does Chromebook have Word? Chromebooks dont have Word, but have Chrome browser-based apps for document processing, such as Google Docs. They allow you to create and edit various documents, including word and spreadsheets, and store them in the cloud.
