Soliditys default 256-bit uint types may represent numbers from 0 to 2^256-1. Solidity has fixed-size unit types of 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256 bits.
In Solidity, these integers are declared using the int type, followed by the number of bits designated for storage, for instance, int256. The number 256 in this example shows that the signed integer uses 256 bits for storage, providing a range of values from -2^255 to 2^255 - 1.
What is the difference between unsigned and signed integers in Solidity? Signed integers represent both positive and negative numbers, while unsigned integers are strictly positive, covering a range from 0 to an immensely large values.
A signed integer is a 32-bit datum that encodes an integer in the range [-2147483648 to 2147483647]. An unsigned integer is a 32-bit datum that encodes a nonnegative integer in the range [0 to 4294967295].
The main difference between uint and int is that uint only accepts positive values, while int accepts positive and negative values. They both store a 256-bit size value and as such, have the same storage cost. The gas cost would vary depending on the operations you will make.
Solidity has a number literal type for each rational number. Integer literals and rational number literals belong to number literal types. Moreover, all number literal expressions (i.e. the expressions that contain only number literals and operators) belong to number literal types.
In the Solidity language, the terms signed and unsigned are utilized to classify integer variables. An integer is a complete number that can be positive, negative, or equal to zero. Unsigned integers are restricted to holding only positive values or zero.
Solidity provides two types of integers: Signed Integers: Signed integers can hold both positive and negative values, ranging from -2 ^ 255 to 2 ^255 1. Unsigned Integers: Unsigned integers can hold only integer values equal to or greater than zero, ranging from 0 to 2 ^256 1.
