Add the data point label Click on the highlighted data point to select it. Click the Chart Elements button. Select the Data Labels box and choose where to position the label. By default, Excel shows one numeric value for the label, y value in our case.
To format data labels in Excel, choose the set of data labels to format. One way to do this is to click the Format tab within the Chart Tools contextual tab in the Ribbon. Then select the data labels to format from the Current Selection button group.
