While RTF is most often used when exchanging documents between different word processing programs or operating systems, you can also use it to transfer documents between different versions of the same word processor.
A Rich Text Document (. rtf file) is a versatile format that allows advanced formatting to be viewed on multiple platforms. Please note that RTFs, unlike PDFs, are easily edited.
Click the Save as Type drop-down menu located toward the bottom of the dialog box. Select the Word 97-2003 Document option to save the RTF file in the classic DOC format. To save it as a DOCX format instead, select the Word Document option from the same drop-down menu.
Unicode RTF. Word 97 is a partially Unicode-enabled application. Text is handled using the 16-bit Unicode character encoding scheme. Expressing this text in RTF requires a new mechanism, because until this release (version 1.5), RTF has only handled 7-bit characters directly and 8-bit characters encoded as hexadecimal.
To open an RTF file, you need a word processor that supports the format. As previously stated, some of the most popular word processors that can open RTF files include Microsoft Word, Apple Pages and Google Docs.
From within Content, navigate to the RTF file and select the file. In the Content Viewer page for the file, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Download. Within Microsoft Word, select the Enable Editing Feature for this document. Then select File, then Save As.
Looks like RTF doesnt know UTF-8 at all, only Unicode in general. Other answers for Java and C# just use the \u directly. Save this answer.
An RTF command consists of a backslash, then some characters a-z, and then an optional positive or negative integer argument. The command is then terminated either by a space, return, or linefeed (all of which are ignored), or by some character (like brace or backslash, etc.)
In the Convert File dialog box, select Encoded Text. In the File Conversion dialog box, select Other encoding, and then select the encoding standard that you want from the list. You can preview the text in the Preview area to check whether all the text is readable in the encoding standard that you selected.
RTF files are encoded using the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) standard, which makes them easy to transfer between different computers and OSes. ASCII is a standard code that represents characters using numbers, and it is the most common encoding used for text files.
