hi its robin an unspecified length of time ago i made a couple videos about this tutorial called i am the c64 it ended up being some of the most unpopular videos ive made in a long time but some people did like it so this video is a follow-up to a specific aspect of this program the tutorial six volumes split across both sides of this disc each side has three volumes and each is a tutorial about an aspect of the c64 so im going to load up the first volume and those of you who watch this now listen that noise that the disk made is part of the copy protection scheme that this program has each time you run a volume the disk is accessed so were going to be talking about how that works today [Music] so if i load the program without automatically running it we can see thats just a basic program and if i run the program with the disco to the drive the copy protection check fails and were told that we have an illegal copy of course i dont have an illegal copy its i just took it out of

Not at all. It is perfectly normal to do, for example all that HTTPS communication is binary - and it works. Is it correct to use Base64 for large file transfers? While one can do this it is a useless overhead if the underlying layer supports binary data.
This is because base64 is very compact compared to other transfer-safe encoding schemes. For example, Hex encoding encodes each byte as a pair of Hex characters. This means that each byte of data would become two bytes after encoding.
Base64 is also widely used for sending e-mail attachments. This is required because SMTP in its original form was designed to transport 7-bit ASCII characters only. This encoding causes an overhead of 3337% (33% by the encoding itself; up to 4% more by the inserted line breaks).
Encoded size increase This means that the Base64 version of a string or file will be at least 133% the size of its source (a ~33% increase). The increase may be larger if the encoded data is small.
Base-64 maps 3 bytes (8 x 3 = 24 bits) in 4 characters that span 6-bits (6 x 4 = 24 bits). The result looks something like TWFuIGlzIGRpc3Rpb.
There might be some overhead because we often separate the base64 text into lines. Thus the base64 version of a file is at least 4/3 larger than the the original: we use at least 33% more storage than the original file size when encoding a file as base64.
The base64 is a binary to a text encoding scheme that represents binary data in an ASCII string format. base64 is designed to carry data stored in binary format across the channels. It takes any form of data and transforms it into a long string of plain text.
With padding, a base64 string always has a length that is a multiple of 4 (if it doesnt, the string has been corrupted for sure) and thus code can easily process that string in a loop that processes 4 characters at a time (always converting 4 input characters to three or less output bytes).
Radix 64 or base 64 is a binary-to-text encoding system that is designed to allow binary data to be represented in ASCII string format. This is an educational project accepts a string from a user and Radix 64 encodes it.
Encoded size increase This means that the Base64 version of a string or file will be at least 133% the size of its source (a ~33% increase). The increase may be larger if the encoded data is small.
