How To Convert Date To Text In Excel Using Formula? First we will select the cell containing numeric date. In this case we will select cell A2. Then we will add the formula=TEXT(A1,mm/dd/yyyy)in the formula tab. After that we will press enter key which will result in change of numeric date to text in the selected text.
Select all of the dates you want to convert and press Ctrl+C to copy them. Open Notepad or any other text editor, and paste the copied dates there. Notepad automatically converts the dates to the text format. Press Ctrl+A to select all text strings, and then Ctrl+C to copy them.
In Excel, dates are stored as sequential serial numbers. The imported dates are probably stored as a text value, instead of real numbers, and that is causing the formatting problem. Note: Only positive numbers can be formatted as valid dates.
Copy the dates that are in the cells that you want to convert. Copy the text and paste it into Notepad. Return to Excel and pick the cells into which you wish to paste the dates. Go to Home Number and pick the Text format with the cells chosen (from the drop down).
The quickest way to convert an Excel date to text is to insert an apostrophe in front of the date (see above). The apostrophe will not be displayed in the cell, but it will tell Excel to treat the contents of the cell as text.
Select all the cells that contain dates that you want to convert to text. Go to Data Data Tools Text to Column. This would instantly convert the dates into text format.
Using TEXT function in Excel to convert date to text =TEXT(A1,mm/dd/yyyy) Some more formula examples and their results are shown below: The results of your TEXT formulas may look similar to this: =--TEXT(A1,mm/dd/yy) That was really easy, right?
Convert a Date to Text Using Excel Text to Columns Make sure the Delimited option is selected and click Next ; Make sure that none of the Delimiters are selected and then click Next again; You should now be offered a selection of Column Data Formats. Select Text and click the Finish button.
