How to use Google Maps to plan your trip Create a new custom map. To start planning your trip with Google Maps, visit . Add and customize your locations. Break your trip down into layers (categories) Plan your itinerary. Start booking. Share your map. Access your map on your phone.

Exporting Your Trip First, load your trip on the map and click the View Guide button at the top of the trip planner. Click the Print icon at the top of the Trip Guide. A new window will open with a list of all the stops in your trip.
