to password protect a pdf file on your mac first double-click on the file that you want to encrypt once the pdf is opened click on file then click on export you can retitle the document if you want to or keep it the same next click the check box beside encrypt now type the password you want to use to encrypt this file this password will be required to open the new file that you are creating next click on save and this will save a new version of the pdf at the destination that you chose now when you open this new file the password you created will be required to open it this is a great tool especially if you have to send sensitive information like financial documents or medical information or anything else personal or private to email the new encrypted pdf right click or control click the icon and click share choose email and the file will automatically be attached to a blank email its a good idea not to include the password in the same email instead if possible call or text the person

Step 1: Open your Word file with Microsoft Office for Mac and then go to File Save As. Step 2: Name the file in the Save As box and then from the Format drop down options, select PDF. Step 3: Click the Save button and your Word file will be turned into PDF in no time.
Save a copy of a Pages document in another format. Open the document, then choose File Export To [ file format] (from the File menu at the top of your screen). Specify export settings: PDF: These files can be opened and sometimes edited with applications like Preview and docHub.
If you have the password and just want to save it as an unlocked . pdf, just open the password protected file (with the password) in Preview, choose Save, and change the name (dont select encrypt). The new . pdf file created should open without a password.

In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF. Choose File Edit Permissions, then do any of the following: Set a password for opening the PDF: Select Require Password To Open Document. Enter a password, then retype it to verify.
Select Save . Select the File tab. Select Save As . In the File Name box, enter a name for the file, if you havent already. In the Save as type list, select PDF (*.pdf) . Select Options to set the page to be printed, to choose whether markup should be printed, and to select output options. Select Save .
