How do I save a file on my Mac desktop without using OneDrive Open Microsoft Excel (or another Office app such has PowerPoint, Word). When you are ready to save the file, click the Save button on the menu bar at the top, or choose File Save. When the save dialog box appears, click the On My Mac button.
