Shawn Jordison introduces the scan and OCR feature in docHub, emphasizing its usefulness for recognizing text within PDF images. He notes that this feature is often overlooked, as users tend to turn to more advanced tools like Abby Fine Reader. The goal is to produce live selectable text by performing OCR on document images, even though using images of text goes against accessibility best practices. The focus of the tutorial is on utilizing the scan and OCR feature within docHub.
