(upbeat music) - Hey everybody, its Paul from Cary Estate Planning back with another video as part of our 2020 video channel launch, continuing on the theme of estate administration in small estates talking today about the collection by affidavit. And the collection by affidavit is probably the second most popular or common small estate filing at least for our firm in the North Carolina probate system. And its essentially a small estate filing for non-spouses if the estate is worth less than $20,000, at or less than $20,000. It essentially allows for the crossing of Ts and dotting of Is for just miscellaneous personal property that wasnt beneficiary designated, could not be beneficiary designated or was just in the name of the deceased when they passed it could not otherwise be transferred. So, if the assets are worth less than $20,000, its generally a two-page filing, $120 filing fee and basically expedites the probate process. Its still a little bit more formal than the spousal
