Combine data using the CONCAT function Select the cell you want to combine first. Use commas to separate the cells you are combining and use quotation marks to add spaces, commas, or other text. Close the formula with a parenthesis and press Enter. An example formula might be =CONCAT(A2, Family).
The CONCATENATE Function is available but does not take ranges of cells as inputs or allow array operations and so we are required to use a helper column with an IF Function instead. This formula uses the character to join two values together.
To use this function, select the cell where you want the combined time to appear. Then, type =CONCATENATE( into the cell, followed by the cells containing the times you want to combine. For example, if you wanted to combine the times in cells A1 and B1, you would type =CONCATENATE(A1,B1).
CONCATENATE Excel Range (Without any Separator) Select the entire formula and press F9 (this converts the formula into values). Remove the curly brackets from both ends. Add =CONCATENATE( to the beginning of the text and end it with a round bracket). Press Enter.
One way to match formatting when concatenating in Excel is to use the character. This character will preserve any formatting that is applied to the cell. For example, if a cell has bold text and you use the character to concatenate it with another cell, the resulting cell will also have bold text.
Excel Concatenate Range Excel only allows you to combine 255 items, up to a total of 8,192 characters, using the CONCATENATE function. So you have to work in sections if you want to create hundreds (or thousands) of new text strings.
The word concatenate is just another way of saying to combine or to join together. The CONCATENATE function allows you to combine text from different cells into one cell. In our example, we can use it to combine the text in column A and column B to create a combined name in a new column.
Combine text and numbers keeping formatting This can be done by supplying the format code inside the TEXT function, which you embed in a concatenation formula.
If the resulting string exceeds 32767 characters (cell limit), CONCAT returns the #VALUE! error.
Combine cells and keep the cell formatting with formula Click to select cell C1, and then copy and paste formula =A1 TEXT(B1,0.00%) into the Formula Bar, and then press the Enter key. You can see two cells are combined and the percentage formatting is kept.
