hi this is gary from macmost.com with another mac tip if youre done working with a file but you dont want to delete it you can compress it to save some space so for instance heres this files 2.3 megs i can select the file and then go to file compress or i can control click two-finger click on a trackpad or right-click on a mouse and then select compress as you can see here this file compresses pretty well and saves a lot of space other files may already be in compressed formats like for instance jpeg images or videos youre not going to save much space by compressing those but it can be handy to compress an entire folder filled with files this will keep them all together compress them a bit and then those files wont appear in searches anymore for instance i can take this project folder here control click it compress now i have it all combined and saved into one file i can delete the original and keep this around as an archive
