In the Preview app on your Mac, open the PDF that you want to compress. Choose File Export. Click the Quartz Filter pop-up menu, then choose Reduce File Size.
Control-click the selected files, then choose Quick Actions Create PDF. The file is created automatically with a name similar to the first file you selected.
You can magnify or reduce a PDF by an exact percentage. Choose the hamburger menu (Windows) or the File menu (macOS) Print. From the Page Sizing Handling menu, select Custom Scale. Enter the percentage you want to magnify or reduce the PDF.

Do your best work on your Mac with Acrobat Pro. Launch Acrobat Pro. Open the Optimize PDF tool. Locate your file and click Open. Click Reduce File Size in the top menu. Select appropriate compatibility settings and click OK. Name your file and click Save.
Preview Open Preview, click File and Open, then locate your PDF. Click Open. Click File, then Export. Click the location on your hard drive where you want to save the PDF, such as Desktop or Documents. Click the Quartz Filter tab. Click Reduce file size. Click Save.
Open your PDF in the Preview app. Open the thumbnail view and select the page or pages you would like to separate. Drag and drop the pages to your desktop or to another folder.
