To make your GIF as efficient as possible: Crop any extra space around the image. When you prepare a GIF image, reduce the output dimensions. Reduce the number of colors in the image. Reduce the number of frames in the image for animated GIFs. If you use Photoshop, create a GIF file by using the Export As menu item.
First of all, an animated GIF stores each of its frames as individual GIF images that combined create the illusion of motion, so you actually have more images moving, just like in the early ages of cartoons. GIFs use a lossless compression algorithm, so no information is lost by compressing the pixel data.
Just drag your GIF into a Descript project, click the Aspect Ratio Video Settings button, and change the width and height values to 300 x 300 pixels. Descript makes it easy to resize your GIF to any custom dimensions you need while perfectly preserving image quality.
If you want to keep it as a gif, you cant compress it any more. All you can do is reduce its color palette and/or dimensions. If its a relatively simple gif you can compress it to super low sizes by opening it in photoshop or a similar image editing software and removing redundant frames, layers, or data.
Follow our best practices for making GIFs to optimize your GIFs on GIPHY! Uploads are limited to 15 seconds, although we recommend no more than 6 seconds. Uploads are limited to 100MB, although we recommend 8MB or less. Source video resolution should be 720p max, but we recommend you keep it at 480p.
GIF compression is an older format, and so it is relatively simple to understand. In order to save disk space, fewer colors are stored. So GIFs have a limited palette of colors, and each pixel references one of those colors. The fewer the colors, the smaller the file.
How can I resize GIF images to an exact 100KB size? Start by clicking on the Choose File button and select the GIF image you wish to resize. Allow the automatic resizing process to take place, adjusting the image to an exact 100KB size without losing quality. Once the resizing is complete, click on the Download button.
