Jetpack Compose announced its 1.0 release in July 2021. The API surface is fairly stable and Compose is ready to be used in production.
The key difference between docker run versus docker-compose is that docker run is entirely command line based, while docker-compose reads configuration data from a YAML file. The second major difference is that docker run can only start one container at a time, while docker-compose will configure and run multiple.
Docker also has a linking system that allows you to link multiple containers together and send connection information from one to another. When containers are linked, information about a source container can be sent to a recipient container.
You can achieve this with LocalConfiguration. current : @Composable fun PostView() { val configuration = LocalConfiguration. current val screenHeight = configuration.
The Compose file is a YAML file defining services, networks and volumes. The default path for a Compose file is ./docker-compose.yml . Tip: You can use either a .yml or .yaml extension for this file. They both work.
Although they involve expressing dependencies, Docker links and dependson have different meanings. While dependson indicates the order in which the services must start and stop, the links keyword handles the communication of containers over a network.
CMD: Sets default parameters that can be overridden from the Docker command line interface (CLI) while running a docker container. ENTRYPOINT: Sets default parameters that cannot be overridden while executing Docker containers with CLI parameters.
The docker compose documentation specifies that links is deprecated and should be replaced with dependson . links also express dependency between services in the same way as dependson , so they determine the order of service startup.
