Hi. Its Mr. Andersen and this is chemistry essentials video 27. Its on molecular, ionic and net ionic equations. And so in chemistry you should be able to observe something. So lets say watching of a bunsen burner. Figure out what are the chemicals that are combining in that reaction. Write out a balanced chemical equation. And then depending on what kind of a reaction were looking at, you may want to use a different type of equation. And so lets start with the combustion of methane. And so what comes out of a bunsen burner is going to be methane gas. Its CH4. So one carbon and 4 hydrogen atoms. Its going to combine with oxygen, which is going to be 2 oxygen atoms in an oxygen molecule. And then were going to get combustion. And so what is yielded in that reaction? Were going to make carbon dioxide and water. And so thats what this arrow stands for. Now if you look at this, the thing that should jump out right away is I dont have enough hydrogens on the right side compare
