Here are the steps to create an invoice number automatically in excel: Create Your Invoice in Excel. Note the Cell Where Your Invoice Number Is. Select ALT + F11. Apart from selecting from cells and entering data manually, you can also use a formula in the source field to create an Excel drop down list. Any formula that returns a list of values can be used to create a drop-down list in Excel.
