The necessary documents that are required before proceeding with your car registration are as follows. Vehicles title. Proof of insurance policy. Odometer disclosure statement. Application for a vehicle transaction (Form VSD 190) Details of the car. Payment of registration fee, title fee, and taxes.
Your valid drivers license or state ID. Proof of Michigan No-Fault insurance for the vehicle. The out-of-state vehicle registration (if the vehicle was registered in another state) A lien termination statement or title signed by the institution issuing a loan (if there is a lien against the vehicle)
Evidence of your right to acquire a title, such as a bill of sale, receipt or canceled check. If evidence of your ownership is not available, a docHubd statement explaining how you came into possession of the vehicle is required.
You must fill out the Application for Vehicle Transaction(s) (VSD 190).Fill Out Application Check the box for Corrected Title in the top section. Fill out the sections that are changed. Indicate your reason for requiring a corrected title. Write in the current vehicle odometer reading. Sign the document.
If the owner of a registered vehicle acquires another vehicle without transferring or assigning the title or interest in the vehicle for which the plates were issued, the owner may have the plates transferred to the subsequently acquired vehicle upon application and payment of the required fees.
All listed owners on the title must be present and provide their valid license or ID in order to change or correct the title. The fee to correct a name on a title is $15.
Secretary of State offices accept payment by cash, check, money order, or credit or debit card (additional fees apply). You must provide proof of a valid Michigan No-Fault insurance policy to register your vehicle in Michigan.
How can I get an instant title? In addition to the $15 title fee, there is an extra $5 fee for instant title service. The vehicle owner must appear in person for instant title service.
You need to transfer the title within 15 days of purchasing the vehicle. A $15 late fee is charged if you dont transfer the title in time. If possible, the seller should join you at a Secretary of State office to complete the title transfer.
The seller is required to give you the original vehicle title (not a photocopy) with the sellers portion completed, an accurate odometer reading or disclosure statement, and their signature. If there is more than one owner on the title, all the owners must sign it before it can be transferred into your name.
