in an electronic document, a mark that shows the start of a new page: Put a page break at the end of the paragraph.
A page break is a special marker that will end the current page and start a new one. Click to place your cursor where you want to start a new page. Click the Insert tab. If necessary, expand the Pages group by clicking it. Click the Page Break button.
On the Insert tab, click the Page Number icon, and then click Page Number. Select a location, and then pick an alignment style. Word automatically numbers every page, except designated title pages.
Continuous Section break starts the new section on the same page. This type of section break is often used to change the number of columns without starting a new page. Even Page Section break starts a new section on the next even-numbered page. Odd Page Section break starts a new section on the next odd-numbered page.
On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Show/Hide to show all formatting marks including page breaks. Double-click the page break to select it, then press Delete. Click Show/Hide again to hide the remaining formatting marks in the document.
Go to Layout Breaks, and then choose the type of section break you want. Next Page Starts the new section on the following page. Continuous Starts the new section on the same page. This section break is particularly useful for documents that have columns.
To view the document as one continuous page without page separators: Under the View tab switch to Web Layout . Note that your documents width will be elastic in this view, meaning your paragraphs will stretch to fill as much width as they are given (try resizing the window).
There are four different types of section breaks that you can insert. They are Next Page, Continuous, Odd Page, and Even Page. A Next Page section break inserts a page break, but also creates two separate sections of the document so that each section can have its own unique page layout.
Word automatically adds a break at the end of each page. You can also insert a manual page break anytime you want to start a new page in your document. Put your cursor where you want one page to end and the next to begin.
