The Department of Statistics released the latest figures on work permits issued in the Bahamas last year. Officials revealed that work permit trends have remained similar to previous years. A total of 9208 work permits were issued, with 44% going to unskilled male workers. The majority of work permits (30%) were issued to Haitians, followed by Jamaicans (11%) and Philippine nationals (11%). The hotel sector received the most permits (12%), while the plant and machine operator sector received the fewest (12%). 80% of workers in the latter group were provided with two meals.
