The Preview app in Mac OS Mojave allows easy splitting and merging of PDFs. In a sample PDF with four pages, the left sidebar should be visible with Thumbnails selected. To split the PDF into two separate documents, pages can be deleted individually or in pairs. For example, deleting the third and fourth pages creates a document with the first two pages.
