This tutorial is the second in a series on using Word templates for theses and dissertations at the University of Houston Clear Lake. The files in the folder are dot X files, which are Microsoft Word template files, not regular document files (docx). Every Word document is based on a template, with preset styles like normal, heading 1, heading 2, and title. Template files work the same way, sending layout information to the document each time it is opened.
