How to classify resolution

"Welcome to 2 Minute Design, where we discuss image size and resolution. Pixels determine the dimensions of an image, with resolution referring to pixel density. Higher resolution leads to smoother images, demonstrated by a circle example. Increasing image size without adjusting resolution decreases pixel density, resulting in lower quality. Key takeaway: Image size and resolution are independent factors."

Spatial resolution is a measure of the smallest object that can be resolved by the sensor, or the ground area imaged for the instantaneous field of view (IFOV) of the sensor, or the linear dimension on the ground represented by each pixel. From: Advanced Remote Sensing, 2012.
On that account, two terms are introduced: spatial resolution, and temporal resolution. The spatial resolution is the amount of spatial detail in an observation, and the temporal resolution is the amount of temporal detail in an observation.
Image classification is the process of categorizing and labeling groups of pixels or vectors within an image based on specific rules. The categorization law can be devised using one or more spectral or textural characteristics. Two general methods of classification are supervised and unsupervised.
There are four types of resolution to consider for any datasetradiometric, spatial, spectral, and temporal. Radiometric resolution is the amount of information in each pixel, that is, the number of bits representing the energy recorded.
Image resolution can be measured in various ways like spatial, spectral, temporal and radiometric resolutions. Spatial resolution can broadly be described as the ground surface area that forms one pixel in the satellite image. Spectral resolution describes ability of a sensor to define fine wavelength intervals.
Image resolution definition. In digital photography, resolution is the level of detail contained in an image. More specifically, it refers to the number of pixels that exist within that image. The higher the resolution, and the richer the pixel count, the more detail and definition you will see.
Whats the difference between spatial resolution and spectral resolution? Spatial resolution is a measurement of how detailed objects are in an image based on pixels. Whereas spectral resolution is the amount of spectral detail in a band based on the number and width of spectral bands.
