now we will see the checksum lets start the session with the outcomes in todays session we are going to learn and understand the checksum and its performance and we know very well that the third error detection mechanism that we are addressing is the checksum lets start the session with what is a checksum the name itself says that checksum means it is going to check the sum so the sender is going to create the message and with the message it is going to calculate the checksum and it is going to attach the checksum to the message how this checksum is going to be created and how it is going to be validated that we are going to address in todays lecture so obviously then the sender side the checksum is created and in the receiver side the checksum is validated so after validation if the receiver finds out that there are no errors then the packet is accepted or the data is accepted otherwise the data is rejected lets see how this checksum is created in the sender side the operation o

Checksum validation is used to ensure a downloaded file has not been corrupted. Checksum validation employs algorithms that compute a fixed-size datum (or checksum) from an arbitrary block of digital data. If two parties compute a checksum of a particular file using the same algorithm, the results will be identical.
This Checksum Calculator allows you to find the checksum of your input string. The entered ASCII or Hex string will produce a checksum value that can be used to verify the checksum algorithm used by a particular device.
The checksum is computed by adding the binary values of the characters, keeping the least docHub eight bits of the result. Each character in the message text is added to the checksum (modulo 256). The checksum is an integer represented by eight bits, it can be considered as two groups of four bits.
To calculate the checksum, we can first calculate the sum of each 16 bit value within the header, skipping only the checksum field itself. Note that these values are in hexadecimal notation. To obtain the checksum we take the ones complement of this result: b861 (as shown underlined in the original IP packet header).
To calculate the checksum of an API frame: Add all bytes of the packet, except the start delimiter 0x7E and the length (the second and third bytes). Keep only the lowest 8 bits from the result. Subtract this quantity from 0xFF.
Solution: Open the Windows command line. Press Windows + R, type cmd and press Enter. Go to the folder that contains the file whose MD5 checksum you want to check and verify. Command: Type cd followed by the path to the folder. Type the command below. certutil -hashfile MD5. Press Enter.
A checksum is like a digital fingerprint of a file or code. Its a calculated value made of numbers and letters used to verify the integrity of a file. One of the most common uses of checksums is confirming whether a downloaded file is corrupted or has been tampered with since it was originally created.
A checksum is a string of numbers and letters that act as a fingerprint for a file against which later comparisons can be made to detect errors in the data. They are important because we use them to check files for integrity.

Generating the Checksum value of the senders message can be done using the following steps: Divide the message into the binary strings of the given block size. All the binary strings are added together to get the sum. The Ones Complement of the binary string representing the sum is the required checksum value.
