In this video tutorial, the focus is on placing an option contract on a price chart to track its movement over time, similar to how stocks and ETFs are analyzed. The tutorial demonstrates starting on the trade tab in Thinkorswim, ensuring that the symbol link is set to the same color as the watchlist for easy reference. By syncing the symbol link to the chart tab as well, it becomes easier to analyze the option chain for a specific stock like SPY. The key takeaway is the importance of setting the symbol link to maintain consistency between the watchlist, trade tab, and chart tab for effective analysis.

The notional value calculation of a futures contract determines the value of the assets underlying the futures contract. To calculate the notional value of a futures contract, the contract size is multiplied by the price per unit of the commodity represented by the spot price.
A single stock futures (SSF) contract is a standard futures contract with an individual stock as its underlying security. Each contract typically provides for the delivery of 100 shares of the stock.
Right click on any chart of stock that is enabled for FO. Select Option Chain.
Each futures contract specifies is the quantity of the product delivered for a single contract, also known as contract size. For example: 5,000 bushels of corn, 1,000 barrels of crude oil or Treasury bonds with a face value of $100,000 are all contract sizes as defined in the futures contract specification.
If the current price of WTI futures is $54, the current value of the contract is determined by multiplying the current price of a barrel of oil by the size of the contract. In this example, the current value would be $54 x 1000 = $54,000.
The options chart is essentially a stock chart with options instead of stocks. Traders can monitor options prices in the same way as a stock chart. Options charts represent how certain options positions are trending. Traders can see the highs, lows, and the chop just as they would with a stock chart.
If the current price of WTI futures is $54, the current value of the contract is determined by multiplying the current price of a barrel of oil by the size of the contract. In this example, the current value would be $54 x 1000 = $54,000.
Options Settings Make sure the Chart Settings window is open. Choose the Options tab. Choose the Price type to be displayed on chart: Last, Ask, Bid, or Mark. Select Show open interest to display the Open interest study plot on the Volume subgraph.
