so were going to go over calculating the chronological age of a child today by calculating the chronological age of each of my three boys and so first were gonna start with max okay and today is May 7th 2013 so we always start with todays date and so we go Year month and day and so today as I said the year is 13 the month is 5 and the day is 7 and so maxed this date of birth is January 11th of 2007 so the month is January the day is the 11th in the year is 2007 and so now we just do some old-fashioned subtraction so we start just like we do with regular subtraction all the way over on our right column here and because 7 minus 11 we cant take 11 from 7 so we have to borrow from our months and so were gonna cross out our month of 5 here and were gonna make that into a 4 and so since weve borrowed a months worth of days where we have borrowed 30 days one month and so were gonna cross out this 7 were going to add 30 so were going to make that 37 and so now weve got 37 minus 11
