in this video I want to show you something thats very common in financial reporting and that is to add superscript numbers to create footnotes in the financial report whether its a table of numbers whether its a graph footnotes are very important because what they do is is they give the viewer context or additional information for that either one number or column of numbers so how can we do that in Excel well if you have a text string like we do here in the formula bar you can simply like highlight that number that you want to be superscript and in the font section of the home ribbon click on the expand button to go to all the settings and here we have superscript we just check that box click OK and youll notice the display in the cell shows it we just hit enter and it keeps our superscript so thats how we can pad the number very easily now if you do it in a cell which actually has a number not text it doesnt work the same way so Im going to highlight the last number for exampl

A footnote is a reference placed at the bottom of a page or footer. They are referenced in the text in the same way as a citation i.e. the referenced text is followed by a superscript numeral (1), which corresponds to the numbered footnote at the bottom of the page.
If you refer to information from an image, chart, table or graph, but do not reproduce it in your paper, create a citation both in-text and on your Reference list. If the information is part of another format, for example a book, magazine article, encyclopedia, etc., cite the work it came from.
Tabular notes contain supplementary information necessary for a correct understanding of the table or a part of it. They fit into two categories: (1) headnotes at the top of the table are used only occasionally, and (2) footnotes at the bottom of the table are used often.
Footnote is explanatory text related to the data displayed by the graph. For additional information on displaying and formatting titles and labels for a graph, see Creating titles and labels. Legend displays the markers and labels that distinguish each series on a graph.
Footnote/Endnote Author First M. Last Name, Article Title, Journal Title Issue, number (date): page cited, doi or URL (if online). Short version: Author Last Name, Article Title (shortened if necessary), page cited.
When citing a graph in-text using the MLA style, youll use the surname of the creator followed by the page number in parentheses. In practice, you can expect your graphs in-text citation to be in this format (Author, Page Number).
A reference within the text to a table, graph, diagram, etc. taken from a source should include the author, date and page number in brackets to enable the reader to identify the data. If you have already named the author in the text, only the publication year and page number needs to be mentioned in brackets.
Basic format for referencing material from the web Format for footnotes for a document from the web: A. Author, Title of Document, Name of Website in Italics, Place of Publication, Name of Publisher, year, page number, , (accessed day month year).
For all graph types you can add unique title, footnote, or axis labels to help identify what is shown in the graph. From the menus, choose Edit Add Graph Footnote. Verify that you are in Edit mode. Double-click the text. Type the required title and press Return.
The rules for citing a graph are the same for citing a photo, illustration, map, or diagram. Place the image in the body of the essay where it is pertinent to the subject matter, and give the citation after labeling it with Fig. and a number. Use the numbers consecutively from 1 on.
