This video tutorial demonstrates how to create a Break-Even chart using the provided information. The Break-Even point in units is calculated by dividing fixed costs by the contribution margin, resulting in 45 units. The Break-Even Point in dollars is determined by calculating total revenue at Break-Even, resulting in 2700 dollars. The graph is constructed with units on the horizontal axis and dollars on the vertical. The break-even point is (45, 2700). Fixed costs are the same for any production volume, represented by a horizontal line at 1575. The Total Revenue line passes through the break-even point and (0,0).

A broken axis chart is used when the value of a few data is largely deviating from the values of most the others. Applying a normal chart (column chart, line chart, etc.) when there is a large deviation in a data series makes it difficult to compare most of the data because a few data points greatly exceed the others.
A scale break is a stripe drawn across the plotting area of a chart to denote a break in continuity between the high and low values on a value axis (usually the vertical, or y-axis). Use a scale break to display two distinct ranges in the same chart area in a paginated report.
A scale break is a stripe drawn across the plotting area of a chart to denote a break in continuity between the high and low values on a value axis (usually the vertical, or y-axis). Use a scale break to display two distinct ranges in the same chart area in a paginated report.
A broken scale is used to measure the length of a stick, and the reading is directly noted down by looking at the scale from a position directly above it.
In the opening Change Chart Type dialog box, go to the Choose the chart type and axis for your data series section, click the For Broken Y axis box, and select the Scatter with Straight Line from the drop down list, and click the OK button.
We will right click on the Primary Vertical axis in the chart and select the Format Axis to open the Format Axis dialog box. Next, we will click Number in the left bar and type [=500]0;;; in the Format Code box and click on the Add button to close the dialog box.
Scale breaks are intentional breaks on the y-axis that are most often used to redistribute data points on a chart. This feature improves readability when there are large differences between the high and low values of the data being plotted (Figure 1).
Insert the break on the vertical, or y, axis of the graph. Draw two parallel and slightly slanted lines through the y-axis between the break in data. For example, if your units jump from 10,000 to 32,000, draw the lines between those two numbers.
Insert an axis break when you want to focus attention on changes rather than absolute totals or when you want to manage outliers in your charts. In this cascade chart (also known as a waterfall chart), a y axis break allows you to focus attention on the components of change instead of the total bars.
An axis break is a disruption in the continuity of values on either the y or x axis on a chart. It is also known as a scale break or graph break and is shown on the chart as a wavy line or diagonal line on the axis and on the bars plotted on that axis.
