Remove all unwanted characters at once In the Name box, enter the function's name: RemoveChars. Set the scope to Workbook. In the Refers to box, paste the above formula. Optionally, enter the description of the parameters in the Comments box. ... Click OK to save your new function.
If you want to remove only one special character, you can use the SUBSTITUTE function (see more in this article Remove Unwanted Characters). If you do want to use a single formula to remove special characters, you will need to use a User Defined Function (UDF), like RemoveSpecChar.
When your formula has a reference to a name that is not defined in Excel, you will see the #NAME? error. See the following example of a SUM function referring to Profit, which is an undefined name in the workbook.
Another way to add numbers in Excel is to use the SUM function. To use the SUM function, type =sum() into a cell. The cell references of the cells you want to add go within the parentheses. The AutoSUM button, which looks like the Greek letter sigma, will automatically put the SUM function into a cell.
In Microsoft Excel, when you insert a symbol into a cell and then select another cell or press ENTER, the inserted symbol may be changed into a text character.
The @ symbol is already used in table references to indicate implicit intersection. Consider the following formula in a table =[@Column1]. Here the @ indicates that the formula should use implicit intersection to retrieve the value on the same row from [Column1].
