When you upload files, Salesforce only accepts commas as a default separator for CSV files. To prevent issues during data import, semi-colons should be replaced with commas. Locate a comma separated file and right click on it. Click open with Text edit or any editor on your desktop. Click edit from the menu, select find and select find and replace.
