To insert a special character: Place the cursor in your document where you want the character to appear. Click Insert Special Character to open the Special Characters dialog box. Select the characters (from any font or mixture of fonts) you wish to insert, in order; then click OK.
Choose a new bullet or numbering format Click a bullet or number in the list that you want to change. On the Home tab, under Paragraph, click the arrow next to Bullets or Numbering. Click the bullet or numbering list format that you want in the Bullet Library or the Numbering Library.
From the main menu, choose File Templates Organize. The Template Management window opens. In the box on the left, double-click the folder containing the template that you want to set as the default. Click the template that you want to set as the default.
Text alignment options. When using justified text, the last line is by default aligned to the left; however, if so desired, you can also align the last line to the center of the paragraph area or justify it so that spaces are inserted between the words in order to fill the whole line.
Open an OpenOffice Draw document, and look for the Drawing toolbar. This toolbar has shapes on it. If you dont see the toolbar, click View followed by Toolbars and Drawing.
Select Format Bullets and Numbering or click on the Bullets and Numbering icon. The Bullets and Numbering dialog box contains five tabs: Bullets, Numbering type, Graphics, Position, and Customize. If a bulleted list is needed, select the desired bullet style from the six default styles available on the Bullets page.

Vertical alignment Place the cursor in the cell you wish to change, or click and drag to select multiple cells. Right-click in the selected area and select Cell Center, Top, or Bottom in the pop-up menu to vertically align the text as desired.
Hold down the Alt key while dragging with the mouse to create a rectangle with its center (rather than a corner) at the start point.
Select the cells to format, then right-click and select Number Format from the pop-up menu. The Number Format dialog box opens for you to set options for various categories of numerical data. In the Category drop-down list, select the category you want, such as currency, date, or text.
