The id attribute is a Global Attribute, and can be used on any HTML element.
Approach 1: We can use the id property to change the ID using JavaScript. Example: html head title Change the ID of the element. using pure JavaScript. style .div { height: 100px; width: 200px; margin: 0 auto; color: white; } #div1 { background: green; } #div2 { Output:

The HTML id attribute is used to specify a unique id for an HTML element. You cannot have more than one element with the same id in an HTML document.
An element cant have more than one ID and an ID cant be used more than once in a page.
The CSS id Selector The id of an element is unique within a page, so the id selector is used to select one unique element! To select an element with a specific id, write a hash (#) character, followed by the id of the element.
HTML DOM Element id Property and setAttribute() method both can be used to change the id of any HTML tag or element.
To use an ID selector in CSS, you simply write a hashtag (#) followed by the ID of the element. Then put the style properties you want to apply to the element in brackets.
You should use a class if you need to use the same selector more than once within a page or a site. While an ID is specific to a single element, classes can be assigned to multiple elements on a page or throughout the website. They are not unique.
Dont use IDs in selectors They are useful for in-page anchoring and if theyre already there in the markup then use them as style hooks. They are also, oddly enough, perfectly correct to use as long as theyre only ever one instance of that ID on any given page.
