To keep the footnote together in Word: Press Ctrl+Shift+S to Apply Styles. Footnote Text. Click Modify. Click Format. Select Paragraph. Under Line and Page Breaks tab. Check box by Keep lines together. Click OK.
Click the Paragraph Dialog Launcher. Now click on the Indents and Spacing tab and then set the line spacing to some exact amount of points. A fair guide is 12-14 points for single spacing and 24-28 points to simulate double spacing. That should pull the footnote text onto the one page.
Here, for instance, are the steps to correct instances of a misplaced footnote reference, a period, and a quote mark: Press Ctrl+H. Enter the following into the Find What box: ^f. (thats a caret, f, period, and quote mark). Enter the following in the Replace With box: . Click Replace All.
Select your footnote near the page footer. Right-click the footnote and select Paragraph. Select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Click to enable the Keep lines together checkbox.
To find and remove all footnotes or endnotes, use the Find and Replace tool: Place your cursor at the top of your document, and then open the Advanced Find and Replace dialog box. In the Find and Replace dialog box, click the Replace tab. In the Find what box, enter either ^f for footnote or ^e for endnote.
To break up footnotes in Word: Open your Word document. Select your footnote. Right-click and press Paragraph. Select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Uncheck the Keep lines together checkbox. Press Set as Default (if desired) and then press OK to save.
In your document, click where you want to insert the note reference mark. On the Insert menu, click Footnote. Under Location, click Footnotes or Endnotes, and then on the Footnotes or Endnotes pop-up menu, click the location that you want. Under Format, select the numbering options that you want, and then click Insert.
If your footnotes keep moving to another page in Word, its because the contents of the footnote are too large for your pages footer. Your page margins might be too small or the font size might be too big.
If the subsequent citation is in the footnote immediately following the full citation, you can use ibid. Used alone, ibid means in the very same place in other words, the same source and the same page or paragraph as the preceding full citation.
To convert all footnotes to endnotes: At the bottom of a page, right-click the footnote text area, click Note Options, and then click Convert. Finally, click Convert all footnotes to endnotes.
