Block attributes play a critical role in many AutoCAD drawings but when it comes to updating a bunch of block attributes at once, the process can be as tedious as it is time consuming in this video I'm going to share with you a super easy way to batch update block attribute values using Microsoft Excel. So in this scenario I have a floor plan that has a series of room tags, and what I'd like to do is change the numbering convention from room 190 to 1090 - and the same throughout the entire floor plan here So in order to accomplish this I'm going to pick on one of the room tags. I'm going to right click and use the really really awesome select similar tool. One of my favorite commands in AutoCAD. And that is going to select all of the room tags in my drawing. Now from here I'm going to navigate over to the Express Tools Tab. and under the blocks panel the super awesome command that we're going to be looking for is Export Attributes, Or for you command line folks, you can type ATTOUT....

Text formatting in Excel works in the same way as it does in other Microsoft tools such as Word and PowerPoint. This includes changing Font, Font Size, Font Color, Font Attribute (Such as making text, Bold, Italic, Underlined, etc.), text alignment, background color change, etc.
A cell style is a defined set of formatting characteristics, such as fonts and font sizes, number formats, cell borders, and cell shading. To prevent anyone from making changes to specific cells, you can also use a cell style that locks cells. Excel has several predefined cell styles that you can apply.
You can use cell formats to change the size of cells and to add colours and borders. You can use font formats to change the typeface and style of the characters in your worksheet. Number formats determine how numbers look when they appear in the worksheet.
Chose the database you are using and select an SQL table to update from Excel. From the Columns tab you can fine-tune how your table is presented in Excel. You can select the columns you want to update, rearrange them into the order you prefer, and change their names if desired.
To edit SQL Server data in Excel you need just to click the Edit Mode button on the ribbon before editing, and then you can edit data just like you usually do it - add or delete rows, modify cell values, etc. All the changes are highlighted so you can easily see which data is changed.
To do this you simply make the edits in the table in Excel and then click on the 'Save to Database' button to get the changes written to the table in SQL Server.
A worksheet (also known as a spreadsheet) consists of cells in which you can enter and calculate data. The cells are organized into columns and rows. A worksheet is always stored in a workbook. A workbook can contain many worksheeks.
You can also import data into Excel as either a Table or a PivotTable report. Select Data > Get Data > From Database > From SQL Server Analysis Services Database (Import).
As a spreadsheet program, Excel can store large amounts of data in workbooks that contain one or more worksheets. However, instead of serving as a database management system, such as Access, Excel is optimized for data analysis and calculation.
Each cell in the worksheet can be blank or have some content (text, number). It can also have its own formatting elements. The CELL function allows you to read the attributes of a cell, however it is not nearly as powerful as the old GET.
