Equipment Authorization Approval Guide Almost all electronic-electrical products (devices) are capable of emitting radio frequency energy. Most, but not all, of these products must be tested to demonstrate compliance to the FCC rules for each type of electrical function that is contained in the product.
When an electronic device has an FCC certificate, it means the product has been tested to comply with FCC standards and it has been approved. An FCC certification does not imply that the product is safe or durable. It simply means that it meets regulated limits for ionizing radiation.
Most products that can emit radio frequency energy need to be tested and certified to be marketed or sold in the U.S. The best rule of thumb is that any electronics device with the ability to oscillate above 9 kHz must get an FCC authorization, but there are exceptions.
Some of these exempted devices are: Digital devices in vehicles used in roadway, airway, or waterway transportation. Digital devices used in industrial plants and public utilities as electronic control systems. Digital devices used as test equipment in commercial, industrial, and medical systems.
Below is a list of electronic equipment that generally needs FCC certification: Electronic products. Power adapters. Bluetooth devices. Electromagnetic compatibility products. Remote control transmitters. IT equipment. Wireless local area networking equipment. Radio and telecommunications terminal equipment.
The FCC certification period normally takes between 8-12 weeks. To make this process faster, FCC has permitted many private companies to issue these certifications. Similarly to that, Telecommunication Certifications Body (TCB) hastens the process, and you get the certification in 1-2 weeks.
Most electronic devices with the ability to oscillate above 9 kHz must get an FCC Certification. All devices must be tested and meet emission rules, to comply with current regulations before receiving FCC Certification.
Procedure for obtaining the authorization of products determine the FCC rules applicable to the product. determine what authorization procedure must be followed depending on the type of product. perform compliance testing at a testing laboratory. produce labels with the information required by the FCC.
