in this tip Im going to show you how to use a parameter action to highlight a mark in the view in this view I have sales by subcategory create a new parameter call it subcategory parameter change the data type to a string click on OK create a new calculated field called highlight subcategory the formula is subcategory equals the subcategory parameter click on OK drag that field to the color shelf on the menu choose worksheet sections click on ADD action change parameter called update subcategory parameter in the Target parameter choose subcategory parameter in the source field choose subcategory click on OK click on OK again now when you click on a mark it becomes highlighted but notice that its de-highlighting everything else to fix that create another calculated field called dummy and the text just put dummy click on OK drag dummy to the detail shelf on the highlighter choose dummy now when I click on another Mark the color changes to that Mark but nothing else is de-highlighted
