Getting an EIN verification letter An Employer Identification Number (EIN) verification letter (CP-575) is sent by the IRS when an EIN application is processed. Call the IRS Business Specialty Tax Line at 1-800-829-4933 (toll-free) between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday.
What Is a CP 575 Form? In the US, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issues a CP 575 EIN Confirmation Letter to confirm the unique Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued to a new business.
A business applying for an EIN is required to complete Form SS-4 (Application for Employer Identification Number). Notice CP 575 is an IRS document generated when a business is assigned an EIN.
Form CP-575 provides the number needed to file your federal employer payroll taxes, but depending on where your business is based, you may need to use a different number to file state and local taxes. Check with your states department of revenue for further guidance on whether you need a state tax ID number.
The EIN Reference Number 101 simply means that theyve found an existing business entity with a name thats the same or too similar to your LLC name. This can happen because while the state you registered your LLC in doesnt have a business with a name similar to yours, there is one in another state.
