To write text over a graphic, click on the graphic to select it, and then press Enter. There should be a cursor inside the graphic. Any text entered is part of the graphic, so if the graphic is moved the text will move with it.
Captions are just like normal text (with a different style), so you can just click on them and modify as you would normally do. To delete the caption, you can just highlight it and press backspace (or delete it in any other way youd delete normal text).
Select your enclosing frame by clicking on it (green handles appear). Now press delete.
Place the cursor in your document where you want the character to appear. Click Insert Special Character to open the Special Characters dialog box. Select the characters (from any font or mixture of fonts) you wish to insert, in order; then click OK.
To set up automatic captions: Click Tools Options OpenOffice.org Writer. Click on the + sign to open the different options. Select AutoCaption. On the AutoCaption dialog box, choose which objects will be automatically captioned and specify the characteristics of the captions.
In Normal View: Click on the Text icon. on the Drawing toolbar. Click and drag to draw a box for the text on the slide. Release the mouse button when finished. Type or paste your text in the text box. Click outside the text box to deselect it.
Click on the Text icon. on the Drawing toolbar. If the toolbar with the text icon is not visible, choose View Toolbars Drawing.
Re: Removing a caption frame If there is a caption, select the picture (if frame is selected first, hit enter and select the picture) cut it and paste it elsewhere, then remove the frame. If youre talking about the gray border around the pic, you can disable it in ToolsOptionsOOoAppearance, then Objects (IIRC).
